Casual Dressy Style Tips

casual dressy style

Since moving to South Florida my day-to-day style has definitely taken on a more casual feel. The mixture of a more laid-back lifestyle in this area {nearly everyone is in Lululemon and heading to/from a recent workout} where the beach is moments away, nearly every outing is casual, and the extreme heat felt nearly year round, all combine for a more scaled back style. Figuring out the balance between casual and dressy wasn’t easy, but I finally have it down and have a few tips for anyone who may be struggling with this too.

I’ve always been a denim girl, but previously I paired my jeans with a more buttoned up look. To integrate my preferred denim with the warmer weather I’m adding in more tank tops in softer fabrics that breathe and flow, and topping them off with a long casual cardigan….which is a must since the air conditioning is PUMPING in every building!

The finishing touch to keep my go-to jeans and loose top from feeling too dressed down I pair these pieces with a great pair of shoes and a classic bag. My tanks and denim are fairly inexpensive because I prefer to invest in shoes and bags. While clothing styles go in and out each season, classic bags and shoes will work in your wardrobe forever. A simple top, jeans and cardigan can all be found for under $100, so the money saved on those pieces can then go towards that splurge worthy bag and/or shoes that you can use day after day after day, after…well, you get the idea!

One final style tip for creating this casual dressy look is to keep jewelry to a minimum {I prefer dainty pieces anyways}. Simpler jewelry, with a mix of high and low in a Bauble Bar ring and Yurman bracelet add an element to any outfit that creates a lux look but doesn’t overwhelm the bag and shoes, which are a statement on their own. When all these pieces are combined together you have the perfect casual dressy style.

Happy Monday everyone!!
