Hot Chocolate & Holiday Cookie Party

I have several favorite holiday traditions; wearing a pop of red here and there, choosing and decorating the Christmas tree, watching Christmas movies, and entertaining friends and family. I like to create unique ways to entertain and this season one of my favorite party ideas is to put together a hot chocolate bar for a cookie decorating party. Getting together with a group to decorate cookies while sipping on a variety of hot chocolate concoctions makes for an easy and fun get together.

{DIY tip: Coat the bottom half of mason jars with mod podge then apply loose gold glitter to add a little shimmer}

Putting together a hot chocolate bar is pretty easy: Designate a bar area then fill mason jars with mini marshmallows, crushed peppermint candy, cinnamon sticks, and chocolate chips. Stock the bar with a few different cocoa powders to choose from, a hot drink dispenser for warm milk, and tartan mugs for festive sipping. Have whipped cream on the side, along with pirouette cookies, candy canes or festive straws to use as chocolate stirrers. Add a chalkboard sign and greenery for decor.

Pre-bake sugar and gingerbread cookies in simple designs {mittens, snowflakes, candy canes and trees}. These simple designs are easy to decorate; fill small pastry bags with white icing and set out bowls filled with toppings such as sprinkles and sugars in festive colors. Then let the sipping and decorating begin.
